Baffin Island is the largest island in Canada.

It is located southwest of Greenland and includes perhaps the most famous carving community in Nunavut - Cape Dorset.  Well known neighbouring communities are Iqaluit, Lake Harbour and Pangnirtung.

Iqaluit [ formerly Frobisher Bay ] is the capital of Nunavut. A growing government centre also know for it's arts community.

Cape Dorset  [ a.k.a. Kinngait ] is probably the most prolific arts community in the world. Most carving are from serpentine a hard stone indigenous to the Island.

Pangnirtung is located on the northeast coast of Baffin Island and has an interesting history.
