OSHUTSIAK PUDLAT (OOSHOOCHIAK)

Born: 1908 Male E7-997
Died: 1992
Resided: Cape Dorset
Drawings, Prints

"It was not until September of 1980 that [Oshutsiak] first requested drawing
paper, stating that he'd 'like to try'. At the suggestion of Terry Ryan,
[Oshutsiak] tried his hand at illustrating his brother Simeonie's memories of
establishing a Lapland reindeer farm in Amadjuak in 1922. This produced a
series of remarkably skilled drawings. [Oshutsiak's] works are unique in
style and approach. His subject matter includes figures with massive torsos,
hunting scenes, and imaginary motifs."*

Oshutsiak was the brother of famous artist Pudlo Pudlat.
